Born in the year of the rabbit and lucky enough to be surrounded by the love of both her logical and biological family, Stella Hirsch (RYT-500) has been practicing yoga for twenty-four years. Stella is a rare Washington, DC native, who also spent her childhood on Maryland’s eastern shore and throughout the Greater Antilles. She first encountered yoga as a sixteen-year-old exchange student in Skanderbørg, Denmark. Initially she found entering and settling into the poses awkward, and was incredibly self-conscious about her lack of balance and flexibility. Then she lay in Corpse Pose (savasana) for the first time and felt something new: at home in her body. After that first experience, she was hooked.
For the past twenty-four years she has practiced and studied yoga and meditation. Stella has trained as a Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra® guide with Jennifer Reis, and as an asana teacher and yoga therapist at Loyola Marymount University’s Yoga and the Healing Sciences and Yoga Rx yoga therapy program with Larry Payne, Terra Gold, and Eden Goldman.
In addition, Stella holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and graduated magna cum laude from Chicago’s DePaul University College of Law with a certificate in public service. She lives in Carroll Gardens with two dogs, a cat, and one extremely patient husband.
But, don’t just take it from me:
“Brooklyn is not relaxing. it is loud and busy and everyone is always on the go. but, in the middle of all of it, with the help of Stella, I was able to find complete relaxation through her yoga nidra guidance. Her gentle voice and loving demeanor made it easy to forget everything and be completely at peace – something that was able to be carried with me after the session ended.”
“Stella is a wonderfully gifted guide through beautifully personalized journeys. Serene and insightful, calming and deep, a pleasure every time.”
“Through the healing powers of yoga nidra, with Stella as my guide and teacher, I have been able to experience the feeling of deep relaxation while being keenly alert and aware. With her loving, compassionate and creative guidance, I have been able to move toward rejuvenation and mental, physical and emotional renewal. I never thought it would be possible. But it is. Stella, and her practice are a blessing….”
